ENZO’s Piece of Music History: The Police, Beastie Boys, Black Flag, Wu-Tang Clan & Metallica Drank Here

ENZONext to OTTO’s original slice shop at 576 Congress Street in Portland, you’ll find ENZO. The centerpiece of ENZO is its bar — a beautifully carved piece of craftsmanship in mahogany that exudes a sense of history. When you sit at the ENZO bar, you have the feeling that the bar has a million stories to tell.  If bars could talk, this one could tell you some stories.  It was once upon a time at the heart of one of rock’s legendary outposts: The Rathskeller (known lovingly as The Rat), located in Boston’s Kenmore Square.

For those of you unfamiliar with ENZO, it’s complicated. The cozy, beloved room opened in 2010 when the small space next to OTTO became available. At the time, when OTTO existed only as a take-out location, the expansion shared the same kitchen, served the same pizza, but had its own name, its own sign, and its own door. (Still does.) It offered OTTO customers a place to sit and enjoy their pizza with a glass of wine or a glass of craft beer.

Most folks sitting at the bar, however, might be unaware that their elbows are resting where countless rock legends rested theirs, before or after they graced the stage of The Rat.

The next time you visit ENZO, remember that you’re sitting where the following (and countless others) likely sat:

OTTO’s Portland Expansion at 574 Congress Street Is Now Open For Dining!

OTTO 574 Congress StreetOTTO is pleased to announce that our new expansion to our 574 Congress Street slice shop is now open for dining.

While remodling of the former Wild Burrito storefront was underway this year, curious Portlanders peeked in as they strolled past, wondering what exactly was being done. After taking in the repurposed mahogany, subway tiles, and minimalist lighting, It didn’t take folks too long to realize that OTTO was simply becoming more symmetrical.

In April 2010, the original OTTO slice shop opened a sister shop, Enzo, directly next door. While Enzo had its own storefront entry, internally she and OTTO were conjoined. Enzo provided OTTO with much needed seating, and more importantly, an intimate bar setting with an array of fine wines and craft beer.

In the spirit of OTTO and Enzo, the 574 Congress expansion maintains the same cozy, minimalist aesthetic, while adding enough dining space (approximately 40 seats) to accomodate families and large parties, and a spacious, gorgeous bar perfect for dining, unwinding after work, or meeting up with friends and family.2012-11-28_18-38-09_999

The 574 Congress location not only expands OTTO’s capacity, it expands its menu. Guests will notice an expanded wine list, six additional taps of delicious craft brews, as well as OTTO’s signature salads and desserts.

Hours are 11:30am to 11pm Sunday through Thursday and 11:30am to 12am Friday and Saturday.

Come by. We’d love to see you.

Beer and Wine to Flow at OTTO’s BU Location in Brookline

OTTO Pizza is happy to report that customers at the BU location in Brookline will soon be able to wash down their pie with a glass of their favorite brew. Prefer wine? You’re in luck, too.

beer & wine at otto pizzaBrookline selectmen have approved a beer and wine license for our 888 Commonwealth Avenue location at Boston University.

With OTTO’s late hours, this should be welcome news to students looking to unwind with a late-night slice and a cold draft. OTTO is open until midnight on weeknights, and 1am on weekends.

While this news is certainly worthy of a toast, customers should expect the taps to start flowing in about 30 days. Stay tuned. We’ll be sure to get the word out.

In the meantime, we’d like to know which beers you’d like to see featured at OTTO. Are you a fan of craft beers, local brews, imports? While we have some great beers in mind, we would love to hear from you.

Take a moment to suggest a brew in the comments below, or hop over to our Facebook page and let us know.
